Is it okay to attend a wedding ceremony without a 'formal' invite?

I didn't receive a written invite, but was asked by the bride if i would be attending the ceremony two days before hand. Am i expected to go?
Is it okay to attend a wedding ceremony without a 'formal' invite?
Anyone can go to the ceremony, especially if its a church wedding, but u probably arent invited to the after party. If they cant be bothered giving u a formal written invite, i wouldnt bother with them. Maybe just send a card and best wishes. Afterall, who would want to go to a wedding just for a 20-30 min ceremony , and not get any food or drink at reception?
Reply:Sounds like she didn't invite you to the reception for whatever reason - maybe the numbers are limited - but she would like you to attend the church, or wherever, to share her big moment.

Certainly attend the ceremony. If you feel inclined, take her a satin horseshoe or confetti, but ceremony only guests are not obliged to give a present.

Reply:You aren't expected to attend, but you can. With my church, they often put an invitation in the church bulletin inviting the church members. They need to RSVP if they are attending, but it's not a formal invite.

They way you're asking "Am I expected to go?" makes me think you don't really want to. If that's the case, don't. You're not required to attend.
Reply:I would say since she's asked you, you have been invited. The Bride is the ultimate in the final say in a wedding! As far as expected, I would say that depends on your plans and what you'd have to rearrange to go. With only two days notice, it might not be possible for you to attend. Weigh your priorities and let her know ASAP whether or not she'll need to put out an extra place setting.
Reply:Certainly you would be invited. I also think you would be included at the reception despite the other answers. If you have any questions, then I would ask the Bride. If you do not want to go, let the Bride know you cannot attend.
Reply:If there is a religious or civil ceremony its ok to attend but perhaps you should not attend the wedding breakfast. There may not even be a seat for you.
Reply:Yes you may attend the ceremony but not the reception.
Reply:you can since she asked you I would not go. i would have expected a formal invitation
Reply:Yes, you can go to the ceremony...might be awkward though.
Reply:The bride asked you to go. Do you want to go, or don't you?
Reply:Yes.

Is it OK to invite people out and only serve (pay for) cake & champagne?

My husband and i are celebrating our anniversary, we invited a few (20) friends and family to join us at a lounge, we will buy a few bottles of champagne and we will bring a cake. After that they are on their own as far as drinking goes......Is this tacky?

We are also paying their way into the lounge/club and will have light food, but will really only serve alcohol for our toast. Is this tacky???????
Is it OK to invite people out and only serve (pay for) cake %26amp; champagne?
no it's not tacky. just make the invitation a desert invite. most people understand what that means. you are being more than generous in what you are offering.
Reply:Yes, mos healthy minded people love to come out for anything positive, even if its chips and soda. A delicious cake, some nice bubbly in pretty glasses, maybe a little fruit with honey, some pretty flowers and candles, people love seeing happiness. Maybe you can be clear from the jump start that it is a celebratory dessert get together. Have some little table gifts that they can take with them. I don't think this is tacky, but maybe your friends are used to drinking generously at similar functions, so they may be critical if this is the case. But you are not tacky in designing your beloved anniversary just the way you want it.
Reply:No. no one should be expecting you to do more. And the drinks that's out of the question, you know how your cousin's are when somethings free.
Reply:Only if they know up front that they pay for their own drinks and dinner. That way they can make a decision to go or not.

If they show up at the restaurant with a gift and then find out they need to pay for their dinner, people may end up feeling misled.

If money's an issue (and for me it always is!!), instead of going out, how about a party at home after the dinner hour (after 7pm - people will have eaten dinner already), so you can serve just hors d'ovres, champagne and dessert?
Reply:To each their own; I'd attend and be ok with it as long as I knew the details up front (cash bar)
Reply:i dont see nothing wrong with that, if theres food there, they can pay for thier own food, and u can just pay for drinks and deserts, or maybe just the drinks. thats not tacky,
Reply:Just make it clear before you go out...otherwise, it will be fine.
Reply:No I don't think so. You're just holding a celebration and offering celebratory drinks and light food. Not all parties have to be a full blown dinner and drinks. Just let your guests be aware of the type of food and drunks that are offered.
Reply:as long as you indicate what you are doing, it should be fine. i think you are being very generous paying for what you are, and as long as people know ahead of time and can plan for the event, i wouldn't worry. alcohol shouldn't be automatically included in your tab; that would be outrageously expensive for 20 people! paying for the champagne toast is sufficient.
Reply:why dont you tell everyone that way if they want to bring something they have the option too!
Reply:If your invite is: join us for a champange toast as we celebrate our anniv. at "blah blah Lounge"

small print: admission paid for each guest. Light refereshments and cake will be served. Cash bar available.

Then they know up front to come with money and what to eaxpect.

Not tacky since it's smaller group of friends
Reply:It's not tacky. Just state on the invitations "come join us for cake and champagne to celebrate our anniversary". It will state clearly what you are providing. (Add the light foods if you wish by stating light refreshments) you may also want to add the words "It will be a cash bar" so that they come prepared to pay, a rude suprise would be tacky.
Reply:should be okay so long as you clearly state what you will be providing. otherwise, if you invited them, you should pay for them.
Reply:not really. it depends on how close you are i guess.

but alot of people do that. is it a BYO lounge? coz u can write on the invitation something like:

you are invited to :"your name %26amp; your partners name"

Date:

Where:

entry Fee and Nibbles are provided

BYO Alcohol.

or something like that.

3 boys, 1 birthday party: How do we word the invite so that people know to only buy for the boy they know?

I'm having a birthday party for 3 cousin boys whose birthday's are all within the same month. Rather than have 3 separate parties, we're throwing one big party. How do we word the invitation so that people know that they don't have to buy 3 gifts but only for the boy they would normally buy a gift for? As if the parties were 3 separate ones.
3 boys, 1 birthday party: How do we word the invite so that people know to only buy for the boy they know?
Do separate invitations. Each parent can buy or make their own child's invitation and send them out to the people that would come to their party. For family that will want to buy for all of them you can make out some invitations with all of their names on it.
Reply:i think you answered your own question. look at your last two sentences.
Reply:You could explain on the invitation.
Reply:I agree with B. Have each family send invites to people that know their child that they want there with the party details and then designate someone with a list of common family members to mail those with the same details.

On party day you may want to have parents greet the guests so they can accept the gifts for their child and set them aside until later for their child to open so no one is mixed up or lost in the process. It may also be something to consider in letting them open gifts at home after the party so if someone didn't have as a big of a turn out there are no hard feelings or upset between the kids (depending on how old they are, you didn't say). That way if someone ends up with 10 things and someone else only ends up with 4 or 5 by attendees at the party no one feels slighted.
Reply:Don't send the same invitations to all the guests. I guess each one of you are gonna have to buy invitations for each kid and send it to the people you want to invite.
Reply:bag4tbuk (buy a gift 4 tha boy u know)
Reply:well first if there regular invites that you fill in with your information just put the information of the person they know even if you doing it for 3 but if they know all three boys just put all there inf. and youll see its up to them if they at least what to purchase something small for all three.

Why midle class or poor people are not invited to the white house christmas party, only famous peple are invite?

My daughter wants to know if only rich or famous people get invited to the white house parties.
Why midle class or poor people are not invited to the white house christmas party, only famous peple are invite?
nope that is not true. a friend of mine -- 2 adults and 2 kids in the family - making about $75K between them all and living in jacksonville florida, had the Seder meal with him 2 years ago i think it was. they are just normal every day people who happen to be strong volunteers in the republican party. she got recognized for some grassroot efforts and got invited.
Reply:Many community leaders and others like them have been invited to the White House by various presidents throughout the years, and those are the people who would be middle class or poor, but still recognized in their communities because of work they've done to help others. You don't necessarily have to be rich or even famous, but if you weren't well known, how would they know to invite you? They can't just randomly invite people, they generally have to have a reason to know that they exist! Also, the ordinary people who get invited aren't usually considered interesting by the press, so there wouldn't be any coverage of them going there.
Reply:I would tell her that influential people are invited, and most of them by circumstance, have a lot of money. %26lt;--She'll figure out on her own one day that's a bunch of crock, but for now, let her have faith in our wonderful democracy. Truth is we live in a monarchy where money is king...
Reply:Generally only distinguished guests are invited to the white house. It's a great honor, and a privilege not earned lightly. Many people are invited because of accomplishments, money is not always a factor.
Reply:they do. cause the gov doesnt take chances and think that someone might blow up the white house. the reason the rich can go is that they pay more taxes and if they do go to jail, they can pay a higher fine. if you were poor, then you couldnt aford to pay
Reply:YES ONLY RICH AND FAMOUS ALLOWED

U BETTER GET THE $$$$$$$

How come on Call of Duty 4, whenever my friend and I try to connect through a party invite, it wont connect?

??? Solutions?
How come on Call of Duty 4, whenever my friend and I try to connect through a party invite, it wont connect?
This has happened to me a couple times

When one connection is bad and the other is better it can get a little screwed up. Just try a few times it will eventually connect. It won't normaly work when your already playing a game either. I find that when you are going to connect through a invite.. it kinda has to be planned so just go on some sort of chat thing (or phone) so you know when your friend, or u, is sending the invite. One other thing. lol make sure your not in a lobby and most importantly be connected to the internet

Why if a friend that i met on the internet invite me to his place for holidays?

Should I say that I met him on the internet to the immigration officers in customs? I just want to spend my holiday from work and school and my friend invited me to stay in his house I Puerto Rico, I am single he so does he, but I just want to have fun and enjoy my holiday, I have a cousin in Miami too that I want to visit should I say that I will visit him ? what can I say? I am planning to stay no more than 2 weeks.
Why if a friend that i met on the internet invite me to his place for holidays?
You do not need to elaborate to the immigration officers as to whom you're visiting. Simply say either I'm on vacation" or "I've visiting a relative". It's not anyone else's business what you do with your time during your stay or who you hang out with.

Just make sure this "friend" you met over the internet is real. Meet them in a public place first. Never just go to their house. If you do, take Chris Hansen from "To Catch a Predator" with you.
Reply:I met my husband on the internet. He was in Wyoming and I lived in the UK. I travelled out there to meet him face to face. You do need to be streetwise, I made took every precaution before I left the UK. I asked him for a phone number where I could be contacted plus an address even the licence plate details of his vehicle. If any of the above did not match what he had told me then I wouldn't have stayed with him. I gave all this information to my parents before I left home. Plus my parents talked to him on web cam before I left home so at least they knew what he looked like too.

So do go careful, not everybody is like the picture answerer no 2 paints. Have a WONDERFUL vacation and be happy.
Reply:If you are single, enjoy being a single. Just be careful. Don't go stay in your internet boy friend's house for holidays. Sounds awkward.
Reply:If you only know if from the internet then the situation is pretty risky. Alot of people can come off as extremely friendly and normal but they turn out to be psycotic. Just be careful if you decide to go!

Why do I have to go through so much to invite my parents to live with me in Australia?

I migrated to Australia in 2002 and my Parents are close to 70 years of age now, they live in India, my biggest problem right now is I can't call my parents to live with me forever because of Immigration laws and I want to live with them and be their support in this old age. Why can't we have decent laws that supports not only skilled migration but also unique family vaules from overseas. Roughly I spend about $10K PA to support my parents overseas every year, if they were here in Australia, I am sure it would have been well spent whithin Australian economy.
Why do I have to go through so much to invite my parents to live with me in Australia?
Good point. But what about the eldery that immigrate and then suck up healthcare expenses from the system? The problem is the abuse of relationship laws and the fact that there are too many people trying to immigrate into too few decent countries.
