How can you invite yourself to a prom?

I'm writing the prom invitations, and it doesn't make any sense. I'm supposed to start it with "the class of 2012 invites you... or the Junior class invites you..." I am the junior class!





:P Anyway, how is a prom invite written?
How can you invite yourself to a prom?
Why not start it as "You are invited to... the prom for the class of 2012".
