In the US, is that common to invite jury members to the lunch (or dinner) after passing the Ph.D defense exam?

I am trying to find out whether there is such tradition. Please share your experience.

When I passed my oral defense my advisor took us out to dinner. I have continued that tradition with my own students, and my colleagues do the same. As to whether it's a universal U.S. tradition, I don't know. It might have something to do with the relationship between advisor and student.
