How do I word a wedding invite if both my parents are doctors?

Do I say, Dr. and Dr. Joe Smith request the honour of your presence...

or do I say, Dr. Joe Smith and Dr. Jane Smith request the honour of your presence.

Thank you in advance
How do I word a wedding invite if both my parents are doctors?
Make sure that they both have Doctor in front of their name, otherwise it implies that only the 1st is a doctor.

P.S. Be proud of the fact that they are both doctors! Besides you are the focus of the wedding and I am sure that your guests will know and respect that. My brother-in-law is a military captain and was the best man at our wedding. In the programs it said Captain because we are proud of him!
Reply:It's funny to me how many people believe that writing Dr. is somehow offensive. I mean, this is your parent's proper title, it's on all their stationery at work, right? Their email signature lines? Probably the office directory on the walls of the buildings in which they work? Moreover, people use this term on wedding invitations often, as it becomes part of a person's name, just like Mr. or Mrs. You don't see anyone complaining about women using Mrs. when they change their address status by getting married - but what about all those poor withered spinsters who have to live with Miss, doesn't this offend them? Please. The point of etiquette is surely to make everyone comfortable, but if someone is uncomfortable with the fact that somebody else is a doctor and they aren't, they should go to school to get a PhD or MD themselves if they're so gosh-darn insecure about their education. It's nothing anybody needs to conceal or feel makes them somehow look bad.

Anyway, the correct wording for hosts that are married doctors is:

Drs. Jane and John Sanderson request the pleasure of your company... (you only use "honor of your presence" if it's in a church).

I always though the Doctors Sanderson sounds too much like The Brothers Karamazov so I giggle a bit when I see that, but it's still OK.
Reply:I've never received a wedding invite saying " dr / mr / mrs smith request your presence " , it's always been " John %26amp; Jane Smith request the pleasure of your company for the marriage of their daughter Jess Smith to James Jones " or both parents name for the marriage of their children Jess %26amp; James , etc .

having " Dr %26amp; Dr Smith " is actually pretty snobby %26amp; seems like they wanting to show they are more superior than the grooms parents who are most likely just Mr %26amp; Mrs .

if you want it brought up to your fiances family %26amp; your friends that your parents are doctors , just tell them , don't rub it in their faces . the marriage is about you , not the fact that your parents can pay for it cause they are doctors .
Reply:Do you really want to showcase that your parents are both doctors on the wedding invite to your big day....? (not trying to be offensive)

if you really need it to be one of these two.. the second sounds better..Dr and Dr is just wierd.....
Reply:a wedding I just went to was for Dr. Logan Turner and Dr. Lisa Turner on the 'new address' listing on the wedding program.
Reply:Congratulations, I work at a place where I look at wedding invites all day long, most people like to do the formal touch where it's spelled out and not abbreiviated

"Doctors Joseph and Jane Smith"....
Reply:ya know thats a good question.. i would think it would go like this

Dr. Joe and Jane smith

ya know if it were like

Mr. Joe and Jane smith
Reply:I thought you'd say it as "Drs. Joe and Jane Smith request the honour of your presence"

Congrats, anyway.
Reply:" Dr.'s john and jane doe request the honor of your presence.."
Reply:Dr's. Joe %26amp; Jane Smith request the honour of your presence.
Reply:Drs. Joe %26amp; Jane Smith (dad's name comes first) If you separate their names it will look like they are divorced.
Reply:Both of my parnets are doctors as well.

Here is how we worded

Doctors Brian and Shelley Smith
Reply:You would say: Drs. Joe and Jane Smith request....

You dont write "Dr." twice in the same group of people.
Reply:I think that Dr. Joe Smith and Dr. Jane Smith sound the best.
Reply:i bet you're a spoiled little brat...ohhhhh look at me....my parents are drs! haha
