I am a permanent resident of United States, but not a citizen. Can I invite my wife to US based on this?

I have just received my Green Card after 4 years. Now i have to apply for a citizenship. However, my wife is in Pakistan and I would like her to join me (we have already been separated for 1 year). Is it possible by any chance?

NO, she'll need to stay in Pakistan for a period of no less than 5 years after you get your citizenship to ensure that you'll be a good American.
Reply:Yes, go and see a lawyer to make sure you do the paperwork correctly.

Good luck and well done on getting your green card!
Reply:Yes, she would need a visa and as the spouse of a LAPR her priority would be low. So start filling out the forms. you becoming a cit would increase her priority.
Reply:Yes if your a green card holder, if an illegal, she have to get a visa, legally pending your illegality would'nt matter in this case! Its her visa.... you have to get her a Visa at your Embassy.....or state office....
Reply:Yes you can, but sadly it is going to take a long time. good luck!
Reply:Absolutely. It's not only possible, it is probable that she would be granted a visa.

Good luck.
Reply:Probably. Contact a good immigration lawyer. I wish you and your wife ALL THE BEST. Thank you for immigrating legally to our country!
Reply:It's possible that she could "follow to join" you. Check with the embassy as they may merely need proof of your marriage and green card.

Otherwise, an I-824 may be necessary.

Reply:yes. you can as long as you make enough income call 1 800 fed info and they can give you the local immigration no where you can speak to an immg officer who can explain how you can now sponsor your wife and family.

congrats!!
Reply:If you filed a petition and you're just a permanent resident, it will take 3 years the least before she can have a visa. But if you're citizen it will take less than a year. USCIS have higher priorities to citizens. My advice is go get your citizenhip first, it will only take 1 more year for you since you;ve been here for 4 yrs (you can apply for citizenship after being an immigrant after 5 years). By 2009, your wife will be here already.
