How soon should I invite everyone?

My parents want to meet my prom date. I'm planning on having a movie night and inviting him and some of my other friends so it'll be casual and not too scary. How far in advance should I ask him (and them) to come so that it won't sound too planned?
How soon should I invite everyone?
I would say just make it a casual thing and ask a day in advance. Or, you can rent a movie and say "Hey I just rented ____. Wanna come by and check it out?" if you're worried about needing to plan it a few days out.

Hope that helps a little.
Reply:The weekend before the prom.
Reply:I think any time now, the sooner the better, so you can get it out of the way early and not stress about it as prom approaches
Reply:Ofcourse once you call him and your friends any one will understand it is planned. Nothing wrong, call and ask his convinience that is it.*
Reply:the size of the event decided the amount of notice. But never too far out as people can forget or double book. For a wedding, you'd want at least a couple of months. For a party, at least two weeks (unless it's for a holiday, then a month or two), For your little get together a week or two out would be fine. and so what if it seems a little planned. Not everyone jumps out of bed freshly showered and with their hair and make up done. Most of us need a little up front time to get all the logistics figured out. :)
Reply:Why not do it soon? That way there's more time in between the two occasions if you want to get together more.
Reply:Whenever you do invite people, make sure that you set a definite date and time. If you make it sound TOO casual, people may think it's a "come if you're in the mood" sort of thing, and your prom date might end up not showing up and looking irresponsible.

As for the best time to mention it...when I was in high school, I might mention the date a week or a week and a half in advance, and remind people a few days before and maybe even that day during school (or the day before if it's a Saturday.) A good way to remind people without seeming pushy is to ask what movie or food they'd want to eat there.
Reply:Prom is in May right? Its March, I think you could invite them over this weekend if you wanted to. That way you're parents will meet him and if you want to invite him over again between now and then your parents will get a chance to know him and be a little bit more comfortable when you guys go out for prom.
